Using filters

The VPS offers two kinds of filters, the difference between them lying in the time of application

Data filters

Data filters work as Dynamics 365 BC filter on reading the data (either when the VPS ist started or on reloading) so that they are already effective at the data interface to make sure that only filtered data are handed over from Dynamics 365 BC to the VPS.

When you start the VPS a dialog pops up where you can edit, create and apply not only one but multiple data filters. 


After having started the VPS, the settings of the currently active filter can be edited in the “Edit Data Filter” dialog, being called by clicking the according item in the "Actions" tab of the "Setup"dialog.



You can filter by work center groups, work centers, machine centers and production orders:




View filters

View filters are applied to data already having been loaded into the VPS. Accordingly, only the capacity utilization by the visible activities are shown in the histograms. To work with the filters, the "Actions" menu offers three according options:

  • Choose View Filter
  • Enable View Filter
  • Disable View Filter


Create and edit both kind of filters

The way of creating both kinds of filters is largely the same. The short video below shows how to edit view filters, but you can proceed just the same for creating data filters.
